Medical Tourism Solutions was created with the intent to address what we see as a shortcoming in the development of medical tourism as an industry: diversion of resources away from the local population. Numerous countries and companies are diving in to this emerging industry with little regard to the externalities that are being created in the process.
At Medical Tourism Solutions this is not something that sits well with us. We believe that access to affordable surgical care is something that all people should have, regardless of where they are from. While medical tourism is providing more affordable care to those in the developed world, the advancement of this industry is creating a talent drain in which the best surgeons are devoting their time to servicing foreign patients and the local population is being ignored. It is our mission to become a leader in the medical tourism field and provide a model of sustainability that other companies can follow.
We are developing a socially conscious business model in which a portion of our profits will be reinvested into the local community. Our method is twofold: create scholarships to educate additional surgeons to replace the talent that is siphoned off, and to have our partner surgeons donate their time to provide surgeries to underprivileged members of their community.
With time we hope that the rest of the medical tourism field takes note of our business model and follows our lead. Whether they do or not, we know that we are doing the right thing.
